Apple corer, peeler and slicer

Apple corer, peeler and slicer

At this time of year if you’ve got an apple tree in the garden your lawn is probably covered in the things.

You can throw them away, but with this inexpensive apple peeler, corer and slicer, you can quickly harvest plenty of apple to stew for autumnal crumbles.

The problem with windfall apples is that they are always bruised. And if they’re anything like my apples, they’ve been got at by the bugs, too – even if you pluck them from the tree.

The apple peeler, corer and slicer, helps you separate waste and salvage clean, edible fruit.

Apple peeler

With this apple corer, peeler and slicer machine you can easily separate the rotten apple from the good and – as I show in the video below – save yourself from finding something wriggling in your mouth with a bit more protein than you planned for.

You can find these machines online for under £20 at time of writing. Kids love them because they create lovely spirals of apple to eat while they’re playing.

You attach the apple to a three-prong grip, turn the handle, bringing the apple towards three blades – a peeler blade, a corer circle and a sharp edge that spirals the apple at the end. When the apple has passed beyond the blades, you just slide the clean fruit from the core.

The mechanics are ingenious and a suction rubber grip holds the corer to the kitchen surface. Make sure you wash with soapy water after – don’t leave it too long or everything gets sticky.

And that’s it  – a kitchen gadget that earns its place in your cupboard.

See the video below to see it in action.
